Healthy Lunch Policy
The school aims to help all those involved in the school community (children, staff and parents) to develop positive and responsible attitudes to eating and to appreciate the contribution that good food makes to one’s health.
To support our policy children will receive lessons on healthy eating through the S.P.H.E. programme during the school year. From time to time we may invite outside speakers in to talk to the children and parents about healthy eating. Parents/Guardians of any child with a medical condition which requires a special diet are requested to contact the school.
Our healthy eating policy encourages children to bring the following:
- Milk
- Water
- Diluted sugar-free squash
- Unsweetened fruit juice
- Soup
- Sandwiches, rolls or pitta bread with a variety of healthy fillings
- Fruit/dried fruit
- Cheese
- Yoghurt
- Vegetables
Children may bring a bite size treat.
Food not allowed:
- Chewing gum
- Sweets
- Crisps
- Popcorn
- Nuts
* We request that you do not include eggs or peanut butter as sandwich fillings as we have a number of children in the school who are allergic to these products.
